My first book is about how and why people try to make English the only official language in the United States. I offer an inside look at the inner workings of the English-only movement, particularly from 1980 onward. The book is called Making English Official: Writing and Resisting Local Language Policies. This open-access book received the Conference on College Composition and Communication Research Impact Award in 2025.
